Frequently asked questions

Ranked by how many different people have asked them. Each answer is checked against the game itself.

How do I activate the elemental pillars?

This is the most asked question in the community, and the answer is a rule almost nobody guesses: a pillar checks every element that lands on it, and it lights only if all of them are the one it wants.

So a weapon carrying two elements at once will never light a pillar, no matter how many times you hit it. The element it wants arrives — and so does the other one, which fails the check and cancels the activation. You need a source that delivers a single element.

Beyond that the puzzle is forgiving. Each pillar tracks its own state and remembers it, so order does not matter and progress is not lost when you leave. Light them all and the stone opens.

Why am I constantly burning, frozen or shocked?

Check your rings. A ring can roll a modifier that applies an element to you rather than to what you hit. There is one for each: fire sets you burning, water leaves you wet, cold freezes, electricity shocks, earth roots you, air weathers you.

It is not a bug, and it does not stop. The game reapplies the status the moment it wears off, for as long as the ring is on — which is exactly why it feels constant rather than occasional. The ring's name says so, too: this modifier renames the item it lands on.

The game files it as a negative modifier, and most of the time that is right. But it is not only a joke at your expense. A ring that keeps you permanently wet means fire cannot take hold on you at all, which is worth a slot when the whole room is on fire.

The other half of that bargain is real: being wet is what lets cold freeze you and electricity shock you. The same ring that saves you in one fight will hand the next one to your enemy.

Does the weight of my gear change how the character moves?

Yes, and more than the movement bar suggests. Your total equipment mass puts you in one of three bands, and the band sets your speed outright: a light build moves at 110%, a middling one at 100%, a heavy one at 95%.

Strength does not buy you out of it. Strength governs how much you can carry before the penalties for overloading start, but the movement band is read from total mass alone. Levelling Strength will not make plate move like leather.

Weight also changes how the character carries itself. The heavier you are, the more the torso leans when you change direction — up to thirty degrees — and the harder each footfall lands. A heavy build leans five times as far as a light one and takes ten times as long to settle.

That lean is not only something to look at. The weapon goes where the torso goes, so a heavy swing follows a moment behind the input and lands slightly off where a light one would. Light armour is not merely faster; it is more precise.

How do I move my progress to a new phone, or from the browser to the app?

Saves are native to the platform they were made on. A Google Play save and a Game Center save are separate things, and neither is shared with the browser version — so there is no automatic sync between them. Each version of the game also keeps its own cloud storage.

What crosses the gap is the migration code, in Settings under Manage Game Progress. Export on the old device and you get a code; enter that code under Import Progress on the new one.

Two things to know before you use it. The code is live for 15 minutes, and the temporary data is deleted from the server after an hour — so do both halves in one sitting. And importing overwrites everything on the receiving device: every character and all shared progress, not just the current save.

One failure has a simple cause: you cannot import a save made in a newer version of the game than the one you are importing into. Update the target device first, then import.

What happens when my gear wears out?

Nothing breaks permanently, but worn equipment quietly stops pulling its weight. At 30% durability or below, a piece contributes 70% of its armour or its block value. At zero it contributes 30% — it still counts, just barely.

Weapons lose durability as you hit with them, armour as it takes hits, and a shield loses it on most hits whether or not you blocked, because its armour is counted on every hit while it is equipped.

Every item lists what it repairs with, and those materials are linked on the equipment tables.

Keys, doors and blocked paths

One rule first, because it is behind most of these questions: every key in the game opens exactly one door. There is no master key, so "I already have a key" almost always means it is the wrong one. These answers give away locations — they stay closed until you open them.

Where is the key to the house in the Marble Quarry?

You are not going to find this one lying around — it is handed to you. The Lighthouse Keeper gives it as a quest reward, so if the house is still locked, the quest is still open.

Where is the key to the Marble Mines entrance?

A different key, and it is inside the quarry house above. Go up to the second floor: it is sitting on a table.

It will not come off the table while the table is standing. Break the table, then pick it up.

I already have a key, so why will the door to the Dark Depths not open?

Because it is a third key. The one that opened the mine entrance does not open anything further in, and no key in this game opens two doors.

The one you want is deeper into the mines, further north, down by the water at the underground lake. It is lit — if you are in the right place, look for the light rather than for the key.

Where is the key to the City Gate?

Another one that is given rather than found. The commander standing in front of the entrance hands it over in return for help — take his quest and finish it, and the gate is yours.

Where do I find the ladder to reach the platform?

The general rule first, because it saves a lot of searching: if a ladder is what you need, the ladder is nearby. They are never stashed on the other side of the map from the thing they reach.

For the one people ask about most: it is a little to the south, propped against the wall.

How do I move equipment between my characters?

Through the Freightmaster. He is the shared storage — what one character leaves with him, another can take out.

First you have to save him, in the north of the swamps. And you have to do it with every character: rescuing him once does not open him for the rest of them.

Once a character has saved him, he stands in all the main settlements for that character. The city is the exception — he only appears there after the bridge repair quest is done.

Where is the key from the stone golem, and why can I not throw it away afterwards?

The key comes from the golem itself — beat the boss and it is yours.

As for afterwards: used keys are not consumed and cannot be dropped, so they stay in your inventory taking up a slot. That is how it works at the moment.

How do I activate the lift in the mines?

The lift is at the south end of the mines, and it is not a key puzzle at all. Look at the floor around it: there are blocks set into it, each one turned a different way.

Those blocks are the answer. The way each one faces tells you which position its lever should be in.

How do I open the gate in the village?

You do not, from where you are standing. Like the temple door, this gate opens from the other side — no key you are missing, no lever you have not found. Get around to the far side and it opens.

Getting round is not a detour, either: just keep following the quests you already have. They take you west to the port, north from the port along the beach, and onward from there. The route comes back to the gate from behind, and by then you are meant to be there.

How do I cross the broken bridge?

You do not cross it. The bridge is broken and it is meant to stay that way — the jump you may have seen on YouTube is an exploit, and a difficult one at that. It is not the route.

The intended way is the long one, and it starts underground. Go into the mines, take the lift, ride it up into the forest, and keep going from there. The path works its way around until you come out on the far bank, on the other side of the bridge.

Where is the key to the abandoned temple in the dead forest?

This one is a trick, and the door tells you so if you read it: it opens from the other side. There is a key, but it is for getting out, and it is already inside.

You get in through the hole in the wall. It is right there beside the door, a little to the left.

These come up constantly too, but each needs more than a paragraph, so each has its own page.

Why is my burning enemy not freezing?

The six elements, the reactions between them, and why resistance is a hidden health bar rather than a percentage.

Why does the same enemy hit me for different amounts?

Each hit is resolved against one randomly drawn piece of your set, and that piece's efficiency is the one that counts.

Why did that attack go through my block?

Kicks, damage over time, fatal attacks and anything from behind all ignore a raised guard.
